[Class 112.] The feed in a laterally vibrating needle sewing machine is reversed and adjusted by a sleeve slidably mounted in the head, the sleeve having at least one guide lug disposed in a slot on the head, there being interposed between the head and the sleeve a spring to effect frictional engagement of the sleeve with the slotted member. The feeddog 90 overhangs the loop taker 69 and extends laterally from the feed bar 107. The other end of the feed bar is pivoted 15 a feed rocker comprising spaced arms 108, 109 of a rock shaft 110. The feed rocker part 110<1> of the feedadvance shaft 110 is bent upwardly near a bearing lug 111. Near the bearing lug 112 the rock shaft 110 carries a crank arm 113 pivoted to a radius bar 114 of which the forked end carries a pivot stud 115 which slidingly engages a guide rod 116 secured at its other end to spaced ears 117 on a rocking frame 118 on a shaft 119. The frame 118 has a fork 120 embracing an eccentric 121 on the loop-taker shaft 77 to impart feed-advancing or return movements to the dog 90. The bar 114 is provided with a boss 122 pivoted to a link 123 pivoted in turn to the feed-adjusting lever 124. The front of the lever 124 extends through a slot 126 in the standard 2. In the zero position of throw of the feed-adjusting lever 124 the axis of the pivot-stud 115 coincides with the fulcrum axis 119 of the rocking frame 118 so that the feed dog 90 makes no work-advancing movements. Movement of the feed-adjusting lever 124 out of its zero position in either direction, is limited by a stop 141 which engages against a recess 140 in a block 138 on the feed-adjusting lever 124. As the stud is moved above or below the fulcrum axis 119 according to the direction of movement of the feed-adjusting lever 124 out of its zero position, the direction and amplitude of the work-advancing movement of the feed-dog are readily controlled. Rising and falling movements of the dog are imparted by a lift cam 143 on the loop-taker shaft. The front end of the feedadjusting lever carries a nut or head 127 which receives a sleeve 128 carrying a coiled spring 129 to frictionally maintain the lever in adjusted position.
