Abstract

<PICT:0415676/III/1> <PICT:0415676/III/2> <PICT:0415676/III/3> <PICT:0415676/III/4> <PICT:0415676/III/5> Hollow box collecting electrodes for the electrical precipitation of suspended particles in gases comprise a plurality of strips arranged normally to form a plane surface facing the electrical field together with mechanism for inclining the strips inwards to remove the deposited dust into the inside of the box. The strips may be suspended from their upper edges and arranged to move inwards to form a V with their lower edges touching, or the strips on each side of the box may be moved alternately in opposite directions to one another and inwards. In the construction shown in Fig. 4, the shutter strips 1 are moved inwards by raising the common connecting rod 5 to which the shutters are attached by links 6 and projections 7. Fig. 6 shows a similar form of construction in which the shutters on each side of the box are attached to separate connecting rods 8 and 9 whereby each set of shutters may be displaced alternately. The rotating axes 2 of the shutters may also be staggered relatively to one another as shown in Figs. 10 and 11. In this case, the shutters 1 are actuated by a common cranked connecting rod 10 which may be driven by an p eccentric 11 from the shaft 12. The shutters may also be provided with handles on the side turned away from the electrical field and may also have extension pieces attached by links which knock against each other when the shutter strips are moved inwards, as shown in Fig. 15.
