Abstract

415,153. Railway &c. switch points. WILLIAMS, D. D., and WILLIAMS, Ltd., H., Railway Appliances Works, Darlington. March 1, 1933, No. 6224. [Class 104 (i).] Short non-resilient brackets 2, are rigidly attached to the switch tongues 1 and rest on anti-friction rollers 4 in non-resilient housings 5 carried by a rigid bracket 6 fixed to the stock rail 7. The brackets are inclined upwards so that when the tongues are in the home position they rest on the slide chairs 13, but when moved away from the rails 7, they are lifted clear of the chairs by the rollers 4. In another form, the surface of the chairs is inclined and the brackets are horizontal, or both chairs and brackets may be inclined. The rollers may have trunnions 9 which roll in guides 10 in the housings 5, and rollers of different diameters may be used for adjusting the point at which the tongues are lifted off the chairs during their movement away from the rails 7.
