Abstract

A facing for buildings or for use as a lining for tunnels, inner or outer covering for cisterns, or for covering motor or railway vehicles, consists of thin webs or strips of sheet metal (other than lead and zinc), less than 0,8 mm. in thickness, which have parallel and straight longitudinal edges and have been subjected to a treatment (such as a stretching operation after rolling) adapted to remove all irregularities of surface such as undulations or warping. A suitable metal for the strips consists of copper, which may contain additions of not more than 10 per cent of one or more of the following substances:-tin, zinc, p aluminium, nickel, manganese, silicon, or arsenic.
