Abstract
414,711. Pump diaphragms. BECHERT, P., Saaz, Czeoho-Slovakia, and SCHMIDT, R., Sch÷nb³hel, near Melk, Austria. Nov. 4, 1932, No. 31168. [Class 122 (i).] Metallic diaphragms for reciprocating engines are provided with corrugations 4 which attain their maximum amplitude M between the inner diameter d<1> and the mean diameter d<m> of the grooved portion and nearer to the latter. The diaphragms may be made of one or more complete or partial laminµ. The blank prior to the impression of the corrugations, may be plane or undulated in form and the thickness may taper gradually or stepwise from the inner to the outer diameter. Where diaphragms are arranged to act oppositely in pairs, they are united at their outer edges in various ways such as by means of an intermediate welded-in ring, by bending one free edge over the other and enclosing the edges in a rubber ring or by inserting a wire between interengaged teeth on the edge and enclosing the whole in a rubber ring.
