Abstract

413,399. Hose pipes. DUNLOP RUBBER CO., Ltd., 32, Osnaburgh Street, London, and RIDING, H., 2, Cambridge Street, Manchester. Feb. 7, 1933, No. 3695. [Class 99 (ii).] A hose pipe comprises an inner layer 1 of rubber, which may be compounded to render it acid-resisting, a wrapping 2 of textile material such as rubber frictioned duck cut on the bias, a helically-wound reinforcing strip 3 sandwiched between layers of rubber or rubber compound, and an outer textile layer 4 consisting of three plies of rubber frictioned duck, the pipe being externally corrugated and then vulcanized. The reinforcing strip 3, which may be produced by extrusion or moulding, is formed of a compounded rubber mix having a high percentage of reinforcing ingredients such as carbon black, colloid china clay, magnesium carbonate, finely comminuted fibres or fibrous material, &c.
