Abstract

412,554. Brake drums. HOLDEN, T. F., Cox's Lane, Old Hill, Staffordshire. Dec. 24, 1932, No. 36550. [Class 103 (i).] In a brake drum a flange 2<a> on the rim 3 is fixed to the disc 4 by pins engaging holes in the rim and disc and welded at each end. The pins may be screwthreaded into the holes. The rim is of high tensile steel and the disc of mild steel. The rim is formed from a length of bar bent into circular form. The rim and disc are recessed at 6 to engage one another. The recess in the rim extends beyond the face of the disc to allow the inner periphery of the rim to be ground across its full width.
