Abstract
412,255. Condenser tube joints. CRANE PACKING, Ltd., Slough, and WILKINSON, F. C. W., The Elms, Stomp Road, Burnham, both in Buckinghamshire. Dec. 21, 1932, No. 36205. [Class 99 (i).] A condenser tube 4 is secured in a tube plate 1 by a conical ring 6 forced against a correspondingly coned surface of the tube plate by a ferrule 5 screwing into the tube plate. The ferrule being for the most part of the same internal diameter as the tube. The tube, ferrule, ring and tube plate are all made of the same material. A spacer ring may be inserted between ring 6 and ferrule or the ferrule may be stepped at 5<1>. In a modification the ring 6 has an additional conical face 8 engaging a conical face of the ferrule. The other end of the tube may be secured in the plate 1<1> by a ring 6<1>, the conical surface of which is less than that of the ring 6 and by a ferrule 50 which allows the tube to expand.
