Abstract

411,980. Ladders. GRAY, B. P., 14, Suffolk Street, Birmingham. Feb. 20, 1933, No. 5116. [Class 20 (ii).] A ladder is supported by a removable back support which is provided with a U-shaped bracket 12 at its upper end, having its arms slotted to engage a rung of the ladder at points laterally apart to prevent twisting of the ladder on its axis. The bracket may be provided with a stem 13 to engage the hollow end of the strut 10 and with a slotted stay 15 adapted to engage a lower rung of the ladder. The stay may be a single bar, or a V-shaped bar slotted on its two limbs. To prevent lateral tilting of the ladder the sides may have pivoted lateral extensions 18 to rest on the ground or the feet of the ladder and the strut may be received into grooves. or sockets provided in spiked foot rests.
