[Classes 20 (iv) and 87 (i).] A floor or like construction comprises concrete slabs A connected between metal girders 1, 1<a> by means of the reinforcement 17 which projects from the ends of the slabs, and inclined elements 3 carried longitudinally of the metal beams and adapted to support the slabs A, and the spaces provided between the inclined elements 3 and the slabs A are filled with concrete 5 which surrounds the girders 1, 1<a>. The upper and lower edges of each element 3 are bevelled respectively to engage a transverse rib 7 on the corresponding slab A and to fit the lower flange of a girder. The reinforcing members 17, which are embedded in longitudinal ribs 8 provided on the underface of each slab A, are adapted to be bent over the flanges of the girders 1, 1<a>. Strips 18 for supporting a ceiling may be mounted between adjacent elements 3 or in notches cut in such elements. Additional transverse and longitudinal ribs 10, 11 are provided on the underface of each slab A and the spaces between such ribs may be filled with cellular concrete while the slab is being moulded. The upper longitudinal edges of the slabs A are rabbeted in order to provide recesses for receiving cement 9. A facing of mosaic &c. may be applied to the upper surface of the concrete slabs A while these are being moulded and vibrated. If desired, the upper faces of the slabs may be provided with longitudinal and transverse grooves to receive a filling of mosaic &c. The upper face of the concrete 5 and of the cement 9 in the joints between the slabs may be treated in any desired manner. Alternatively, the slabs may be provided with a suitable facing when in position.
