[Class 118 (ii).] Signalling lamps for use, prior to and during reverse movement, on a motor vehicle equipped with pre-selector gear change mechanism, are energized on closure of a switch arranged to be closed by the movement of an element, e.g. 39 of the gear actuating mechanism which is under the control of the cam shaft 34 of the preselector gear change mechanism. The switch 12 (not shown) maybe of the spring-controlled plunger type, the operating stud 13 of which is arranged adjacent to a member 39 associated with the reverse gear mechanism 36-49 which is pre-set by movement of the pre-selector cam-shaft 34, 35 so that movement thereof into the reverse gear engaging position causes closure of the switch. The operating stud 13 of the switch may be arranged adjacent the " reverse " actuating strut 39 which is under the control of the cam shaft 34 through a spring 37. Alternatively movement of a brake actuating thrust pad 41 of the gear box, which pad is moved by the strut 39, may cause depression of the operating stud 13. The circuit of the signalling lamp may be made independent of the ordinary lighting circuit switch on the vehicle.
