408,149. Frictional pocket igniters. MARKSTEIN, R. P., 53, Lainzerstrasse, Vienna. Sept. 19, 1933, No. 25869. Convention date, Sept. 19, 1932. [Class 75 (iii).] In an igniter comprising a flat fuel container 1 having a removable wick torch 3 of rectangular section adapted to be ignited by rubbing against a pyrophoric surface on the outside of the container, the torch is provided with a row of steel striking pins 5 and air inlets 7. The thickness of the torch is equal to that of an ordinary wooden match and the thickness of the container is not greater than that of the torch plus about twice the thickness of the container wall. The container 1 is provided with a guide 8 for the torch and sliding lids 2 for inserting cotton wool. The base 4 of the torch is filled also with cotton wool and is shaped to complete the square or other form of the igniter when inserted in the container.
