Abstract

407,641. Cramps. AUSTIN, F. B., 2, Abbots Road, East Ham, London. Oct. 25, 1933, No. 29605. [Class 61 (ii).] Window &c. frames are assembled in a cramp comprising main beams 4 across which are disposed a pair of pressure applying plates 10, 13, one, 13 being secured in a predetermined position, as by pins 15 engaging holes 14 in the beams 4, and the other 10 being connected to slidable members 9 operated by fluid pressure in cylinders 5 to urge the plate 10 towards the plate 13 ; further cross-beams 21 are adjustably secured to the beams 4 by screws 22 engaging in slots 23 therein and carry at their ends pressure cylinders 30 with rams 28 and adjustable stops 25. The cylinders 5, 30 are controlled respectively by pedals 8, 31 and are actuated first successively and then simultaneously. Mullions &c. are positioned by jigs 17 adjustably secured to cross-bars 18 and jigs set at right-angles to the jigs 17 may position the transoms. The plates 10, 13 carry flanges 11, 16 formed with slight projections adapted to enter the mortices in the elements to locate them correctly.
