407,257. Brake shoes. KOMAI, S., 71, Date-cho, Shibuya-ku, Tokio. Aug. 15, 1933, No. 22797. Convention date, Aug. 27, 1932. [Class 103 (i).] Brake shoes of cast iron or other metallic material have a series of perforations or slots 12 that extend from the friction face 13 to the back of the shoe and substantially across its width and serve to cool the shoe and to discharge powdered material formed by wear at the friction surface. The slots may be inclined to the side edges of the shoe and also to the friction surface so that in the latter case they extend downwardly when the shoe is in position to facilitate the discharge of the powdered material.
