Abstract

405,509. Loom dobbies and healds. TEFAG TEXTIL FINANZ AKT.-GES., Zurich, Switzerland.-(Assignees of Wuttig, E. ; 41, Schulstrasse, Chemnitz, Germany.) May 23, 1933, No. 14850. Convention date, June 2, 1932. [Class 142 (i).] In dobbies particularly for looms employing gripper shuttles, each heald frame is mounted on a bearer 10, Figs. 2 and 7, below the shed and is actuated by vertically guided detachable rods 11. The bearer is made hollow and is provided with pins 50 engageable by the hooked ends 49 of the rods 11, so that by displacing the bearer, the heald frame may be removed. The heald frame comprises transverse supports 18 extending between longitudinal bars or cords 19 supporting the healds 47. In the form shown in Fig. 2, each rod 11 carries a link 12 guided in a hole 20 in a pattern-controlled bar 13 and provided with two recesses or forks 49<1>, 50<1> adapted to engage oppositely-reciprocating knives 15a, 15b, Figs. 1, and 3. The knives are operated by cams 16 and are pivoted at 22 vertically below the fell of the fabric so that the shed angle is the same for each heald frame. In some cases, the knives 79, Fig. 10, are carried by discs 78 slidable in grooves 76 and operated by links 80 pivoted to the discs and to the framework. In the form shown in Figs. 1, 2, and 3, the pattern-controlled bars 13 are adapted to displace the links 12 when the knives 15a, 15b are in their inner positions, so that the links pass from engagement by one knife to the other. Each bar 13 is connected by levers 24, 26 and a link 14 to latch pieces 27, 28 which are connected at their free ends by the eyes 45 of a needle 44 adapted to engage a pattern card 43 passing over a cylinder provided with a ratchet wheel 41. In the position shown in Fig. 2, a cam 35 has raised a pawl 39 to turn the pattern cylinder and to lift the latch pieces so that the needle is free of the card. On further rotation of the cam, the needle will descend, and an oscillating lever 32 will engage a nose 29 or 30 on the latch piece 27 or 28 according to whether the needle 44 passes through a hole in the card or is blocked by the card. In the form shown in Fig. 7, the rod 13 is connected by bell-crank levers 52 with the heald operating rods 11 and is provided with a pawl 54 having noses 55, 56 adapted to engage oppositely-reciprocating knives 59, 65 operated by a cam as shown. The pawl 54 has a pin engaged in a slot 66a of a verticallyguided member 67 carrying a card-engaging needle 44 at its lower end, thereby determining the engagement of the pawl with the knife 59 or 65. When the knives move outwardly, a projection 71 on the knife 65 acts through a lever 70 to raise the needle free of the card, and to move a spring-retracted lever 73 to operate a pawl 75 for rotating the pattern cylinder.
