404,924. Cleaning vegetables. BENSEMANN, E. H. T., Motueka, Nelson, New Zealand. April 20, 1932, No. 11344. Void [Abridged as open to inspection under Sect. 91 of the Acts, May 2, 1932]. [Class 28 (ii).] Fruit grading apparatus, which may also function for cleaning the fruit, consists of two oppositely rotating rollers A having helical grooves C of opposite hand and increasing in pitch and depth from one end to the other either continuously or in steps. The grooves may be lined with fabric or rubber and may be formed by cutting the surface of cylindrical, stepped, or conical rollers or applying strips to the roller surfaces. For cleaning purposes, the strips may be made of brush material, and brushes may be mounted to rotate above the rollers.
