[Class 39 (ii).] An electric incandescent lamp for use in a vehicle headlight comprises a main filament 13 mounted so as to lie at the focus of the headlight reflector, a second filament 14 parallel to the axis of the lamp but spaced therefrom, and a V-sectioned screen or trough 19, preferably of dull or non - reflecting material, co-operating with the latter filament to produce below the horizontal axis a non-dazzle beam of the form shown in Fig. 3. The upper edges of the screen lie in a plane substantially at the axis of the lamp and, by tilting the screen, the non- dazzle beam may be directed mainly on to the pavement at the near side of the vehicle. The ends of the respective filaments 13, 14 are connected to leading-in wires 17, 18 and to a common return wire 16 which supports the screen 19. The main filament 13 may extend either along or transversely to the axis of the lamp, or may be V-shaped, with its apex on the axis and at the focus of the reflector.
