Abstract

402,081. Inductances. PYE RADIO, Ltd., Cambridge, and ROOT, E. V., 176, Milton Road, Cambridge. May 19, 1932, No. 14254. [Class 37.] A tuning inductance unit comprises short-wave coils located in a U -shape screen 12, a further U-shape screen 13 being positioned between the coils and at an angle to their common axis. The legs of the screen 13 may be connected by strips of resistance material. Long-wave coils 14 with their common axis at rightangles to that of the shortwave coils have a screen 19 between them formed of short-circuited turns of hare wire. A wave-change switch 22, 24 is operated by a rod 26. One of the inductances may be tapped to provide a reaction winding and the aerial connected to this tapping, these connections being effected by the wave-change switch. The switch may have points to cut out the tuning unit and connect a gramophone pick-up.
