Abstract
401,501. Preventing damage from backfiring. EYSSARTIER, G., Villa Chardon Bleu, Rond-Point Deganne, Archachon, Gironde, France. Dec. 5, 1932, No. 34460. Convention date, Dec. 10, 1931. Addition to. 395,901. [Class 7 (iii).] Baffles, of dished formation, arranged in the air inlet of a carburetter to permit of the air being supplied thereto but prevent the passage of gases therefrom to ensure protection against danger from back-firing, as described in the parent Specification, are constituted by straighttroughs 13, of semicircular cross section, secured at their ends to the walls 1 of the air inlet, the troughs being either perforated or formed of foraminous material and arranged in overlapping formation. The baffles may be fitted in the air supply tube mounted in the fuselage of an aeroplane and they have openings which, at the side at which air enters, have a wide base continued by a duct integral with the baffle, projections, indentations or ridges being formed on the walls of the ducts if desired.
