Abstract

INTERNATIONAL GENERAL ELECTRIC CO., Inc., 120, Broadway, New York, U.S.A.-(Assignees of Allgemeine Elektricitats-Ges. ; 2, Friedrich Karl-Ufer, Berlin.) Jan. 9, 1933, No. 730. Convention date, Jan. 9, 1932. [Classes 36 and 38 (i).] An expansion chamber for an oil-filled electric cable, which may enclose a joint or be connected to an end cap, contains in air space which is separated from the oil by a flexible partition of synthetic material. The Figure shows such a partition d arranged coaxially with the cable b and tightly secured thereto at e<1>, e,<2>. A perforated partition c screens the oil outlets a in the cable from the partition d. The outlets a can be closed during manufacture by valves, taps, or louvres operated by rods &c. Modifications are described in which the expansion chamber f is filled with oil and the flexible partition forms a closed vessel wrapped or coiled round the cable. An additional air chamber may be provided communicating with the air space. Specification 385,422 is referred to.
