Abstract

.400,648. Thermionic valves. FERRANTI, Ltd., SUTTON, R. W., and BLACK, T. C., Hollinwood, Lancashire. April 27, 1932, No. 12140. [Class 39 (i).] The anode elements of a screenedgrid valve are supported on the screen grid by a U-shaped member, the ends and an intermediate part of which are brought into engagement with refractory insulators supported on the screen grid. As shown, the ends of a U-shaped wire b carrying flat or flattened cylindrical anode elements a, fit in steatite sockets e secured by washers to a flanged part d of the screen grid c. A metal tube g is fitted over a grooved insulating peg f secured to the grid, and is deformed so as to engage with the groove, the tube being subsequently welded to the middle of the wire b and the end flattened on to and welded to a lead h. In a modification, the ends of the wire b are inserted in metal tubes fitting over insulating-pegs and a wire, welded to the middle of the wire b, fits in an insulating socket mounted on its screen grid.
