Abstract

399,056. Motor driving-arrangements. LANGENSCHEID, E., 32, Ohligserstrasse, Haan, Rhineland, Germany. Jan. 10, 1933, No. 857. [Class 35.] Variable-speed friction gearing comprises a fixed driven wheel disc 5 and a driving coned disc 1 inclined thereto, the latter being movable together with its driving-motor 2 in a line parallel to the touching surfaces of the discs. The disc 5 is fast on a shaft 6 which is supported in a bearing sleeve 7 of the gear housing 3 and carries a transmitting pulley &c. 10. The disc 5 is pressed by a spring 8 into engagement with the coned disc 1, which is supported along with the motor 2 on a slide 4. The slide 4 is moved manually by suitable means over a transverse face of the housing 3 so that the disc 1 is engaged at varying distances from its centre by a projecting internally coned rim of the disc 5, the speed of the pulley 10 being thus varied continuously. The disc 1 is formed at its back with heat-dissipation ribs 11 which suck cooling air in through a central hole 12 in the disc and drive it on through apertures 13 into the interior of the electric motor, through which it passes radially.
