[Class 76.] Horse pelts and the like having a thick skin are prepared bv first splitting the skin and then dressing the part carrying the hair. The treatment may consist of soaking in a solution containing ground barley, alum, formic acid and common salt, followed by greasing with fish oil and tallow, drumming with sawdust to remove the external grease, washing, shaving, and drumming again with dry sawdust or sawdust and sand.
