Abstract
397,348. Weighing- apparatus. HESSER MASCHINENFABRIK AKT.- GES., F., 99, Olgastrasse, Cannstatt, Stuttgart, Germany. Nov. 26, 1932, No. 33500. Convention date, Dec. 12, 1931. [Class 143.] An automatic weighing- mechanism, more particularly for filling and closing machines is provided, above the load pan of the weighing apparatus and separately from the conveyer mechanism, with a support arranged in the level of the feeding track of the packages, and the support is adapted to be operatively lowered and raised to place the package to be weighed from the feeding track freely upon the balance and to raise again the package off the balance up to the level of the feed track after the weighing process has been finished. The package p, Fig. 1, partially filled, is conveyed in known manner to a grid-like support 2 moved downwardly by an eccentric 15 so as to deposit the package on a scale pan 61 counterbalanced by a weights pan 62, Fig. 6. A second eccentric operating through a rod 20 rotates a vertical shaft 23, connected to a pair of pivoted feed gates 43 by means of a helical torsion spring and by a loose-motion pin-and-slot arrangement. The feed gates are thus opened and the material enters the package. A pawl 45 engaging the armature of an electromagnet 51 retains the feed gates in the open position. During the descent of the grid-like support 2 to deposit the package on the scale pan, an arm 71 actuated by the support raises a locking device 67, Fig. 6, to release the scale beam 60<1>. When the package has attained its correct weight, the weights pan 62 rises and a trip 101 liberates a spring-pressed arm 87 to close the circuit of the electromagnet 51 which then releases the pawl 45 and permits the feed gates to close under the action of the torsion spring. The grid-like support 2 rises again to lift the filled package off the scale pan, and the package is carried away for sealing and labelling. The rise of the support 2 again engages the locking device 67 with the scale beam, and an arm 80 on the locking device pushes back an arm 83 to reset the arm 87 and open the circuit of the electromagnet 51. If no empty packet reaches the filling station a catch, normally depressed by the presence of a packet, prevents the rotation of the shaft 23 and the feed gates remain closed.
