Abstract

397,045. Internal-expanding brakes. CLAYTON DEWANDRE CO., Ltd., EDGE, S. H., and CALLA, W. M., Titanic Works, Lincoln. March 8, 1933, No. 7069. [Class (103 (i).] The operating lever 19 of an internal-expanding brake is disposed on the outer side of the back plate 15 and within a housing 5 secured to the back plate and the sheath 4 of a Bowden type cable by which the lever is operated is secured to the housing. Bearings for the inner end of the pivot 61 of the brake shoes and for the pivot 20 for the cam 17 to which the lever 19 is secured are provided by ears offset from a plate 16 secured on the inner side of the back plate 15, the outer bearing for the pivot 61 being on the back plate and that for the pivot 20 being on the housing 5.
