Abstract

396,091. Signs. MURRAY, L. E. R., 180, Uphill Grove, Millhill, London. Jan. 22 1932, No. 2035. [Class 3 (ii).] In a sign of the type wherein a sheet of glass or other transparent material is illuminated by light entering the sheet edgewise and is formed on one side with a pitted surface which is silvered or otherwise rendered reflecting, the letters, designs, &c. are attached to the unsilvered surface of the sheet or to a transparent or translucent sheet arranged in front of the said sheet so as to be readily detachable therefrom. As shown in Fig. 2, the letters 4 of sheet celluloid are secured to a glass sheet 1 which has a pitted rear face and is illuminated by a tubular incandescent lamp 3. As shown in Fig. 3, the letters 6 are secured to a transparent or translucent sheet 7 in front of a silvered sheet 8. Guide lines, as described in Specification 375,224, may be provided on the front of sheets 1, 8 or on the front or rear of the sheet 7. The letters are attached to the sheets 1, 7 by cement or adhesive which is permanently " tacky." The letters may be of rubber and dished so as to be attached by suction.
