394,593. Rubber-faced paving-slabs. DUNLOP RUBBER CO., Ltd., 32, Osnaburgh Street, London, and LAKEMAN, A., Fort Dunlop, Birmingham. Dec. 21, 1932, No. 36176. [Class 87 (i).] A paving-slab or the like comprises a hollow pre-formed rubber unit 1 having an outer tread portion Ic, a concrete or like base 3, and intermediate cushioning means 2 of granular material, such as crumb rubber, or of sponge rubber. The concrete 3 is preferably filled in in a plastic condition after the cushioning means 2 has been inserted. The cushioning means may comprise a plurality of layers, and may be isolated from the concrete by enclosing it in an envelope or interposing a backing 2a of canvas or other material.
