Abstract

393,465. Hardening photographic emulsion layers. S.O.S. PROCESSING CO., Inc., 151, West 40th Street, New York, U.S.A.-(Assignees of Stewart, V. A. ; 425, West End Avenue, New York, U.S.A.) Oct. 13, 1932, No. 28557. Convention date, Oct. 31, 1931. Drawings to Specification. [Class 98 (ii).] In a method of hardening emulsion layers, especially those of kinematograph films, the layers are treated with a mixture of formaldehyde, tannic acid and a substance such as glycerine, by passing the support bearing the developed layer through a bath of the mixture. The bath may contain turpentine, eucalyptus oil, carbon tetrachloride and alcohol in addition to the above ingredients. In the case of kinematograph films a treating chamber similar to the usual developing chambers is arranged between the developing chamber and the usual drying-apparatus.
