Abstract
392,512. Tube-cleaners. BRENDLIN, A., Knapsack, near Cologne, Germany. Aug. 11, 1931, No. 22669. Convention date, Nov. 1, 1930. Void [Published under Sect. 91 of the Acts]. Addition to 377,723. [Class 99 (ii).] The piston a of the cleaner described in the parent Specification is slidably mounted on a sleeve f which is itself slidable on a spindle h connected to the restraining cord b, and the spindle carries at its outer end a basket of scraper springs k secured between two collars l, l<1>, the former being slidably mounted on the sleeve f and the latter fixed to the said spindle. A compression spring g is disposed between the piston a and the collar l, and a counter compression spring i may be disposed between a stop or flange f<1> at the outer end of the sleeve f and a collar m on the spindle h. In operation, the pressure of the driving-fluid on the piston causes the latter to slide and with it the sleeve f and collar l, thus increasing the diameter of the scraping- basket and forcing the springs k thereof against the inside of the tube being cleaned ; upon removal of the pressure during the return stroke of the piston the basket restores itself to its original size.
