Abstract

389,974. Collars for personal wear. HARDING, TILTON, & HARTLEY, Ltd., Kinnaird House, Pall Mall East, London.- (Assignees of Akt.-Ges. G. Metzger, Wõsche & Kragenfabrik Basel; 108, Jakobstrasse, Basle, Switzerland.) Feb. 22, 1932, No. 5308. Convention date, Oct. 24, 1931. [Class 141.] Double or semi-stiff collars or cuffs with a natural fold line are made by cutting up a fabric formed with fold lines for several collars, the blanks for which are stamped out in the manner shown so as to waste as little as possible of the fabric. The fold lines are spaced transversely at such distances as to provide narrow strips 2 of twice the width of the inner portion of a collar and wider space 5 of twice the width of the outer portion of a collar. The fabric may, as shown in Fig. 2, comprise upper and lower plies of weft threads 9 and warp threads 10, intermediate filler warps 11 and binder threads 12 for holding these in position. At the narrow parts 2, the warps 11 may be omitted to form the fold lines, but these may, alternatively, be formed by the use of thinner or thicker warp threads in either or both plies. In modifications, the weave in the whole of the areas forming the neck portions 4 of the collars may differ from that in the areas &c. forming the outer portions of the collars, which may comprise thinner or thicker and if desired better quality warp threads, the junction between the two different weaves forming natural fold lines. Threads of different colour to that of the body portion may be woven on the fold lines to indicate these, and they may be visible from one side only. The fabric may be woven, as shown in Fig. 5, with interwoven warp and weft threads 13, 14, packer warp threads 16, additional weft threads 15, and binder warps 17, the warp threads 16 being omitted in parts to form the fold lines. Other weaves for the fabric are described.
