Abstract
389,579. Floors. SHIPWRIGHT, A. A., Akbar, St. Peter's, Broadstairs, Kent. Dec. 10, 1931, No. 34292. [Class 20 (iv).] In flooring and like constructions comprising filler tiles supported on bearer tiles carried by joists, the bearer tiles are each formed with inwardly-directed flanges engaging clips or the like embracing the joists. In the form shown in Fig. 1, clips 3 on the joists 1 support the bearer tiles 2 on which the filler tiles 6 are supported. As shown, the clips may be shaped to space the tiles 6, and reinforcing-rods 9, 10 may be embodied. Fig. 4 shows a modification with widely-spaced joists in which pairs of filler tiles 6a are bridged by additional bearer tiles 2a engaging clips 18 supported from the reinforcing-rods 10. The filler tiles may be in the form of slabs supported on the bearer tiles by pillars which may be integral with the slabs. In the modification shown in Fig. 9, the filler tiles are carried by rods 29 supported from the upper flanges of the joists 1 by clips 33. The rods 29 may also be stayed at 34 by the clips 3 which support the bearer tiles 2. As shown in Fig. 22, the filler tiles 6b may be grooved to receive inserts 45 of wood &c., to take the flooring- nails 46, and breeze &c. fillings 44 enclosing cables or pipes 48. Fig. 14 shows a method of supporting the joists from a beam or girder 35 by clips 40 engaging continuity-rods 36 which are spaced by clips 41. Fig. 20 shows a modification in which the spacer-clips 42 for the rods 36 are formed with extensions 43 to support the upper flange of a joist.
