Abstract

389,328. Windscreen-cleaners. OLIVERO, F., 3, Piazza Bodoni, Turin, Italy. June 16, 1932, No. 17103. [Classes 19 and 138 (i).] The wiping blade of a windscreen-cleaner comprises a support 5, Fig. 3, carrying two wiping elements 9, 9<1>, with bevelled faces 15, 15<1>, respectively, which alternately engage the screen as the cleaner is oscillated. The support 5 is loosely mounted by a ring 8 on a bolt 7 which is pivotally mounted in the bifurcated end 6 of the wiper arm. In a modification, the elements 9, 9<1> are projecting portions of a single piece of rubber with a central groove. In the construction shown in Fig. 7, the wiper blade, which may be in one piece but preferably consists of two strips 16, 161 placed back to back, is held in a channelled member 5<1> hinged to a support 18. Lugs 19, 19<1> projecting from the support limit the swing of the wiper blade. In a further construction, shown in Fig. 10, the wiping strip 20 is provided at its ends with sectors 21 to facilitate reversal of the strip about the pivot 17.
