[Classes 83 (i) and 83 (ii).] Casting processes. -In casting lasts or boot-trees of aluminium or other metal by filling a mould and then pouring out the still fluid interior the mould a is provided with a small opening e remote from the funnel b. A pin g is arranged in the opening and is withdrawn by hand or automatically when the mould is inverted. The pin may have a disc n, engaged by a compression spring f, which has a tongue r adapted to engage an annular groove o during pouring but, when the mould is inverted, an arm g<2> strikes a stop i and the pin and disc are rotated so that the tongue enters a longitudinal groove and the pin is extracted. The small hole left in the casting may be closed by welding or by a metal plug.
