Abstract

<PICT:0388290/IV/1> Textile fabrics, particularly woven silk fabric or knitted fabric in open form, are treated with liquids, e.g. for washing or weighting, by passing the fabric F in loose folds through the liquid in a tank 1 by means of an immersed conveyer band 7, and the folds are immersed to a greater or less extent according to the requirement of the fabric and are squirted from above through nozzles 32 by the same liquid. The height of the surface of the liquid in the vat is regulated by means of an adjustable overflow. To ensure complete saturation the fabric may be caused to travel out of and into the vat one or more times before it finally leaves the conveyor band.
