Abstract

Electric contacts of switches, relays, or the like, and electrodes or clamping jaws of welding machines are made of a composite material composed of iron or steel granules or powder and a filling of a metal melting at a lower temperature, e.g. copper. The copper is melted over the powder which is contained in a vessel the shape of the final article. The finished article may be obtained by machining. If steel is used the article may be hardened after machining. Equal proportions of copper and iron are referred to.
