[Class 17 (ii).] A rubber heel for boots and shoes comprises a hard rubber layer or part 1 arranged against or close to the upper with a soft rubber layer 2 constituting the tread surface, aad is fastened to the upper by means of nails driven into the heel from the inside of the upper ; the heel may be stepped to form a lap joint with the sole. In a modification, Fig. 7, the hard layer 1 is enclosed on all sides by the soft rubber 2.
