Abstract

386,568. Cables ; jointing cables. ENGLISH ELECTRIC CO., Ltd., 28, Kingsway, London, and HEATH, A. A., Lydstep, Rowley Park, Stafford. July 14, 1932, No. 19967: [Classes 36 and 38 (i).] A machine for stripping the insulation from the ends of conductors comprises two electricallyheated blades, one of which can be moved by a treadle to grip the end of the conductor against the other, so that the insulation is burnt through and the end portion can be pulled off by drawing the conductor between the blades. The blade 15 is carried on links 13 passing through insulated guides 21 and pivoted to and insulated from an arm 1 which can be rocked by a rod 6 and treadle 9 to bring the blade 15 against a blade 16 fixed to and insulated from the blade of the machine. Current is passed through the blades in series from a transformer 22 through the links 13. The machine is carried on a stand having a wheel 29 pivoted to turn like a castor and wheels 25 carried on links 27 so that they can be turned into the position shown by the dotted lines and allow the legs of the stand to rest on the floor.
