Abstract

385,713. High-tension switches. GAVED, J. L., 12, Parks Street, Minehead, Somerset. Nov. 17, 1931, No. 31798. [Class 38 (v).] In order to simplify wiring, the fixed contact 3 and line terminal 20 of an overhead switch are mounted at the ends of an insulator 1 which projects on each side of a supporting arm 2, and are connected together by a conductor passing through the insulator. The moving contact 7 is pivotally mounted at 15 on a pin-type insulator 4, which is itself mounted on a pivoted lever 5 operated by a rod 14, and carries a pin 13 located between lugs 10, 11 for limiting its movement relative to the insulator 4. A spring 12 urges the contact 7 forwards, so that the opening movement is accompanied by relative rotation of the contacts which are thereby cleaned and more easily parted. A plurality of such switches may be mounted on a supporting arm, and operated by the same rod 14.
