The action of a catalyst is improved by exposing it to an electrical excitation, by means of direct or alternating current. The voltage used should not be sufficient to cause a glow discharge. In the case of a catalyst which is a poor or a non-conductor, it may be transferred on to a conductive base or mixed with a conducting substance.
