DAYTON ACCESSORIES MANUFACTURING CO., 212, Fountain Avenue, Dayton, Ohio, U.S.A. - (Assignees of Smelker, LeR. ; 212, Fountain Avenue, Dayton, Ohio, U.S.A.) March 2, 1931, No. 6487. Convention date, March 3, 1930. Void [Published under Sect. 91 of the Acts]. [Class 103 (ii).] An automobile seat comprises a two-part base member, the parts being pivoted together on a vertical axis and movable to facilitate entry of passengers ; the closing of the door may lock the parts ; optionally the seat may be swung upwards about its front edge, the two parts of the base being automatically latched together as the seat is lifted. Fig. 2 shows such a seat lifted, and Fig. 3 a plan showing the seat base members 11, 12 pivoted together on a pin 33 ; the member 11 is pivoted at 23 to angle-irons 21 bolted to the floor of the vehicle, so that the seat may be swung upwards about its front edge. The members 11, 12 are connected as shown in Fig. 10 by a pivot pin 33 in recesses 35 and by overlapping arcuate tongues 36 .. 39; anti-friction ridges 40, 41 are also formed by grooving the part 12; they run on the part 11, and are lubricated by wicks at the ends of the grooves. A swinging-latch 44 connects the parts 11, 12 as the seat is lifted about its forward pivots 23. To prevent the seat from swinging, a push-rod 48, Fig. 3, is slidably mounted on the part 11 by slot and screw connections. The inner end engages with a tongue on the part 11, and the outer end is engaged by the door, being fitted with an adjustable extension piece 54 for this purpose. The seat cushion of the driver's seat is similarly pivoted on a vertical axis arranged nearer the centre of the rear edge than the pivot 33 shown in Fig. 3. The latch 44 is replaced by a swinging catch operated by the door by means of a spring-pressed rod, and the seat cushion, instead of being supported by tapering side flanges 27, is supported at its front edge by a forwardly-inclined flange.
