Abstract
384,527. Time switches ; snap-action switches. BRITISH THOMSON-HOUSTON CO., Ltd., Crown House, Aldwych, London.-(Assignees of Shroyer, J. L. ; 812, South Carpenter Avenue, Oak Park, Illinois, U.S.A.) April 12, 1932, No. 10479. Convention date, April 13, 1931. [Class 38 (v).] The time switch in a cooking apparatus has a snap action and comprises a bridging contact 82 mounted on an insulating member 84 and co-operating with contacts 56. The member 84 co-operates with a guide 88 and is forked to engage a pin 87 mounted on an arm 85 pivoted at 86 and connected by a link 117 to. a lever 116 carrying a pin 119 on the top of which is rotatably mounted a pawl 120. The lever 116 is rotatably mounted on the winding spindle 100 of a clockwork mechanism 83. The arm 85 is connected by a link 94 to a lever 92 pivoted at 93 and fitted with an operating handle 95. Depression of the handle-opens the switch and tensions the springs 114, 111. The pawl 120 is moved by a spring 123 and engages, and partially, rotates a cam 101 frictionally mounted on the winding spindle 100. The timing mechanism retards the action of the spring 111 to close the switch until a pin 124 on the pawl 120 engages a lever 125 and releases the pawl from engagement with the cam. The lever 125 engages a slotted arm 127 of a pivoted lever 126 whereby the position of the lever 125 may be varied to vary the setting of the switch.
