383,748. Envelopes. ELLENS, W. E., Tresco Brow, Chesham Road, Berkhamsted, and DICKINSON & CO., Ltd., J., Apsley Mills, Hemel Hempstead, both in Hertfordshire. Nov. 24, 1931, No. 32536. [Class 146 (ii).] An envelope for the reception of wages is provided with a transparent or semitransparent window 6 and with a sealing-flap 5 provided with a gap at one or both sides thereof, so that Treasury notes 15, 16 enclosed in the envelope and folded over the back will be available for inspection. The envelope blank comprises a front or body portion 1 provided with flaps 2 .. 5, the flap 4 having an aperture which is covered by transparent or semi-transparent paper &c. 18 to from the window 6 to allow of inspection of any coins 7 inserted in the envelope. The flap 4 is first folded over the body 1, then the bottom adhesive flap 3, and finally the adhesive side flap 2. The Treasury notes 15, 16 are inserted so that they protrude above the mouth of the envelope and are then folded together with the adhesive sealing-flap 5 about the line 14. To give maximum security to the envelope the overlapping portion 20 may be increased as at 21. In a modification the sealing-flap is gapped at each side, the two side flaps are of substantially the same size, and the window is provided in the body or front portion. If desired, the window may be made in known manner by varnishing &c. a portion of the blank and applying heat to render the area transparent.
