Abstract
382,729. Photographic projectionprinting apparatus. FRANK, T. K., 10, Mile End Road, South Shields, Co. Durham. Oct. 7, 1931, No. 27867. [Classes 98 (i) and 98 (ii).] In order to enable the relative sizes of parts of a photographic image to be altered during printing, a copying or other camera of the automatic focusing type is combined with an opaque screen mounted in front of the sensitized surface and having one or more slits through which the sensitized surface is exposed by moving the screen across it during the exposure, or by moving the object and sensitized surface simultaneously in opposite directions. In the form shown, the sensitive surface b, Fig. 1, is successively exposed through an adjustable slit d in the screen c which is moved across the surface b by gearing f driven from the electric motor g. The camera a is of the automatic focusing type. In a modification the screen c is stationary and the sensitive surface b is moved on a carriage across the table, a second electric motor being provided to move the negative in synchronism. In a further modification as applied to a camera for making reproductions direct from an object, the camera a is mounted on brackets n sliding on guide rods n<1> on a base q and is moved by a threaded shaft p operated by a hand-wheel p<2>. The lens board u is slidable on the base r of the camera and is moved independently of the camera by pins u<1> engaging cams t on a shaft s having slotted arms engaging pins on a block mounted for longitudinal movement on the threaded shaft p, the cams t being designed to maintain correct focus when the camera is moved.
