Abstract
381,702. Hose couplings. KNOWSLEY CAST METAL CO., Ltd. and MUNDELL, F., 24, Lower Moss Lane, Hulme, Manchester. Sept. 25, 1931, No. 26730. [Class 99 (i).] Hose couplings, e.g. for connecting a length of hose to a standpipe hydrant &c. or to another length of hose, and comprising a faucet half a, Figs. 1 and 15, and a spigot half socketed therein and held by lateral spring- pressed plungers e with shaped extremities projecting into the bore of the faucet half, have provision made for disengaging the plungers by providing cam surfaces carried by a collar of a fixed sleeve band by a rotatable cap c so that rotation of the cap pulls the plungers outwards. The cap may carry depressions and protuberances which bear on rollers, studs, pins, &c. carried by the collar, or the rollers &c. may be carried by the cap and the depressions and protuberances by the collar. The rotatable cap may be extended so as to guide the outer end of the spindle of the plunger. Fig. 15 shows the faucet part of a fire engine or landing valve controlled outlet fitted with an adapter sleeve which carries rollers &c. c<2x> coacting with cam surfaces on a rotatable cap c.
