Abstract

380,803. Control of D.C. motors; drum controllers. BACQUEYRISSE, L., 53, Quai des Grands Augustines, Paris. June 18, 1931, No. 17730. Convention date, June 26, 1930. [Class 38 (iii).] Regenerative braking.-The series fields of compound-wound motors arranged for regenerative braking, are shunted from a point beyond the beginning of shunt field regulation during increase of speed, and down to a point past the end of shunt field regulation during reduction of speed. The controller for two traction motors shown in Fig. 2, has a loosely mounted contact segment 17 which is moved by the controller through a lost motion drive consisting of a pin 22 and stops 23<1>, 23<2>, and is effective to connect and disconnect a resistance 15 across the series fields 16<1>, 16<2> of the motors. The resistance 15 is connected at position V during increase of speed and remains connected up to full speed, and down to position III during decrease of speed, positions III to V forming the shunt field regulation range. In another arrangement described with reference to Fig. 1 (not shown), the resistance for shunting the series field of a single motor is cut in and out in two steps.
