Abstract
380,501. Bird cages &c. DOWDALL, T. G., 11, Gibson's Hill, Streatham, London. June 17, 1931, No. 17617. [Class 5 (ii).] A cage, animal pen or the like, having an opening for the introduction and the withdrawal of a receptacle for food or other material, the opening being normally closed by the receptacle, is provided with one or more doors hinged on one or opposite sides of the opening and spring- urged to cover the opening on withdrawal of the receptacle. In the form shown a food or water receptacle 1 is inserted between wires 2, ,3 of a bird cage to which sheet metal doors 4, 5 are hinged. The doors are fitted with springs 6, 7 that cause them to close the opening between the wires when the receptacle is withdrawn, the corners of the doors or tabs thereon serving as stops. A clip may be provided to hold the receptacle in position. A catch may be provided to prevent the occupant of the cage from opening the doors.
