Abstract

380,279. Reflectors. GREW, W. F., 5, Coventry Road, Baginton, Coventry. Oct. 22, 1931, No. 29334. [Class 97 (i).] A rear reflector is attached to a wheel of a vehicle so as to provide an intermittent signal 1 as the vehicle moves. In Fig. 2 a reflector 2 with red glass 3 is mounted in an eye 4 formed on a strip 5 clamped to one of the spokes of a motor-car &c. wheel. The reflector axis is slightly inclined to the spoke so that the reflected light will pass clear of the rim. In Fig. 4 the reflector is secured to a spring clip 6 engaging over the hub of a bicycle wheel. The reflector shown in this Figure has a red glass 3 at each end so that it functions twice in each revolution of the wheel. The edges 7 of the clip 6 may be spaced apart to engage the lubrication nipple on the hub to prevent rotation of the clip, or the clip may be formed with a depression to engage in a lubrication aperture in the hub. A number of reflectors may be mounted around the wheel to give a series of flashing signals as the wheel revolves.
