Abstract

380,088. Handles for golf clubs &c. LORD, H., 17, Riversdale Road, Murrayfield, Edinburgh. June 9, 1931, No. 16728. [Class 132 (ii).] A wrapping band for the handle of a golf club, hockey stick, or other striking appliance used in games comprises a strip of rubber or other flexible material having a backing of fabric d and formed with a longitudinal ridge a integral with a parallel portion having spaced indentations, cavities or holes b, the band being adapted to be wound spirally around the handle without overlapping. The indentations &c. b are separated from one another by transverse ridges c to prevent the fingers from slipping. A plain outer wrapping of inextensible but pliable material may be wound over the ridged and indented band, or the band may be applied to a handle having recesses or ridges in or on its surface. The band may be attached to the handle at its ends only or over its full length and is preferably wound on itself to produce a bulge e at the outer end of the handle. Spaces may be left between the convolutions of the band.
