[Class 18.] Apparatus for printing and issuing material in strip or web form, e.g. a ticket strip, comprises a sheet metal casing 1 having a rod 10 passing through the end walls and held by nuts 12. Magazines for storing ticket rolls or zig-zag ticket strips 14 are formed by partitions 9 and distance pieces in the form of tubes 13 arranged on the rod 10. The ticket strip 14 extends over a platform 15 provided with pins 17 moving in guides 18 having stops 19. The ticket strip passes between guides formed by washers 20 acting as distance pieces between the platform 15 and a cover-plate 21 secured to the platform 15 by screws 22 passing through the washers 20. Blade springs 23 secured between the coverplate 21 and the washers 20 press the ticket strip into contact with the platform 15. The platform 15 is bent down at its forward end 24 where it is formed with slots 25 for accommodating a series of sheet metal brackets 26 having slots 27, and upstanding lugs 31 of different lengths and a knife-edge 30 on one limb 29, the other limb having a pin 33 passing through a hole 34 in the platform 15 and entering one of a series of apertures in the strip 14. The brackets 26 are maintained in position by a bar member 28 secured to the platform 15 and each bracket is kept in normal position by a spring 35 secured at one end to the bracket and at the other to the platform 15. When it is desired to issue ticket the limb 29 of the corresponding bracket 26 is moved rearwardly by the back of the forefinger to allow the end of the ticket strip to be gripped between the forefinger and thumb and to remove the pin 33 from the ticket strip aperture so that a length of ticket strip can be pulled out and the bracket 26 being released the pin 33 enters the next aperture in the ticket strip and acts as a detent, the strip being then torn off over the edge 30. If more than one ticket is required the bracket 26 is only released when the appropriate length of ticket strip is withdrawn. The ticket strip may be dated, stamped, indented or cancelled by a roller 36 carried on the arm 37 pivoted on the coverplate 21 and inked by the roller 41. The roller 36 passes through an aperture 38 in the cover-plate 21 and is maintained in contact with the strip 14 by the spring 39. The ticket strip may be marked prior to withdrawal from the apparatus by a yieldingly controlled manually depressible stamp mounted upon the coverplate 21 so that it may be depressed through an aperture therein to mark the strip located below the aperture. The pivotally mounted brackets 26 may be replaced by slidable members. The casing is closed by a front wall 2 connected at the upper edge by hooks 3 engaging a rod 4 secured to the casing. At the lower edge the cover is provided with a slot 5 through which a lug 6 can extend. The front wall 2 can be locked in the closed position by a padlock secured to the lug 6 which has a hole 7 formed in it for this purpose. In the open position the cover 2 rests on guides 8 secured upon the end walls of the casing.
