[Class 138 (i).] One or more wiper arms A detachably secured to flexible holders B supported by pulleys d<2> mounted in bearings between two guides are moved over the whole surface to be cleaned by means of a chain a<1> passing round fixed pulleys a<2> and having its ends connected to the holder or holders B, which chain is operated backwards and forwards by hand, mechanical, or electrical means. In the case of a plurality of wipers, they are positioned so that before they reach the limit of their traverse, one wiper passes beyond the point where the preceding wiper started.
